Hello to you all! Lucy here! (pictured above with Kylie). Kylie has wandered off to get some fuss from the servants and Ben's followed in case there's food in it for him! I'm happy as I am so I thought I'd say hello!
It's been a funny old week weather wise and we've had a couple of soakings but as we had our raincoats on we were largely okay. That said, we've also managed to see some beautiful sunlight too. I love being out on a sunny autumn day: it's so nice to feel the warmth on your back while nosing around in the fallen leaves and then crunching your paws through them. And of course, so much easier to see the squirrels. Sooo many out there hiding their nuts and much easier to spot them when they're in the trees. I like nosing through the fallen nuts too but the female servant says I mustn't eat them- but I do sneak the odd one!
The other thing I like is snuggling under my blanket at night and wherever possible in the evening getting into an armchair, flipping over and putting my paws up. The servants laugh at me, but they should try it, it's very comfy!
So far, the horrible bath hasn't happened, the weather has been too wet, and apparently we may just have to have a good brush instead, as our flea and worming treatments are due. I must remember to view all foodstuffs with extra suspicion now in case the servants try to catch me out with the horrible worming tablets. On the plus side, Ben will be 11 soon which I've heard means we're expecting another tuna cake! I do love my fishes. One of the reasons I dislike cats is because they'd probably try to pinch fishes from me given half a chance!!!
Anyway, I'm off to see if there are any treats or fishes going!
Love and licks,
Lucy (and Ben & Kylie)
Hello one and all! Ben here as Kylie and Lucy have gone off for a girly chat somewhere!
Well, I hope you are all enjoying the weather we've had over the past week. I can honestly say I'm not! I absolutely hate getting my paws wet! Now I'm retired all I want is a soft, warm, dry bed- and food of course- and this walking in the rain is horrible!! The male servant gets annoyed with me at times when I refuse to walk but he doesn't seem to appreciate that I'm trying to keep him dry too- so ungrateful! Still, I know where I'm well where I am so I forgive him- silly human!
Mind you, I did get some shorter walks this week as I trod on a bramble thorn and had a sore pad for a couple of days. I'm feeling better now but today it rained when we went out and we'd all had enough so we just did a short walk round the canal. This rain does have a plus point though. Apparently the servants have now bought a new bottle of dog shampoo which puts us in real danger of having our baths! We always get bathed in the back garden in the sun so as long as it rains we're safe! The servants don't know this but Kylie's actually causing it to rain when she keeps whining! She's very good!
Anyway folks, I've been awake for far too long! Where's that nice, warm, dry sofa!
Time for a doze or twelve.
Until next time.
Wags and licks,
Benny Hound x
Hello to you all! We've taken a break from Hound Chat while we recharged our batteries over the summer. As you can see from the picture below, we're now fully rested and raring to go.... well to some extent! Ben is missing from the photograph, presumably he's scavenging food somewhere!
Hope you've enjoyed the long, summer days and the beautiful weather (no we didn't spot summer either!) We have, however, managed to enjoy some pleasant walks along the canals. We were hoping for a day at the seaside but we're still waiting- come on servants- we do like to be beside the seaside!
We've had a couple of birthdays among us since we last wrote. Kylie turned 12 in July and Lucy turned 10 in August. As they were double digit birthdays we insisted on a cake and got the female servant to make a tuna cake for us all to share. We await another in October when Ben turns 11. WE LOVE CAKE!! We do have to smack the male servant's paws though as he also keeps pinching our goodies. We can pinch yours, servants, but NOT the other way round!!
We also had an injury amongst us :-( Kylie can't do anything steadily and managed to rip her leg trying to barge past the kitchen gate to get outside- must have been desperate for a wee! Anyway off she went to the vets which she hates- and came back with a very fetching (and expensive) pink bandage which she had to wear for a few days. The wound had to be stapled but a few days later the bandage came off and a week or so later, the staples came out. Kylie has healed very well and is now nice and calm and genteel (when she's asleep!)
We're slightly concerned as we keep hearing mention of 'dog shampoo' and apparently our yearly baths are 'due'. We're safe at the moment as the servants need to buy the shampoo. We're doing everything we can to keep them too busy to get around to buying it!
Anyway, nice to chat with you all. We hope to write sooner next time!
Wags and sniffs,
Gladsone, on behalf of Kylie, Ben & Lucy.

We are occasionally lively greyhounds who live with two human servants. Sadly our house- mate Ben crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 23/09/18, just a few hours after writing his final blog. We miss him so much but we know he's running free and no longer in pain.
