A little poem from Lucy:
The servants rescued me first
And welcomed me to their home
But I’m a sociable little pooch
Didn't like being on my own
So we went back to the kennels
To find a friend for me
And we met a soulful hound
A similar age to me
The humans were besotted
And reserved him there and then
They thought of lots of names
In the end they called him Ben
Ben became my house-mate
And we got on from the start
We formed a special bond
In fact he stole my heart
Ben was full of mischief
And I soon picked up his habits
He had a fondness for wildlife
Squirrels, ducks and rabbits!
(Ed- the above isn't entirely true - Lucy was a little sod before Ben arrived!)
Ben adored his food
It was the highlight of his day
He stared at the servants for hours
Until he got his way
He loved to have a nap
Between meals he'd take his rest
He was happy on his bed
But liked the sofa best
We had a special bond
Us two, and then Kylie
Our home a happy place
Nowhere else we'd rather be
Sadly Ben has left us
But lived to 83 (Ed- in doggy years)
He's crossed the rainbow bridge
And now he's running free
We really miss you Benny
But so happy you're not in pain
Sleep tight our precious brother
Until we meet again.
Lucy, on behalf of Kylie & the servants xx
RIP Ben- 03/10/06- 23/09/18
Morning hoomans! Benny Hound here taking time from his busy schedule to bring you all the latest news.
Thanks to all of you for your good wishes over the past few weeks. I've been struggling quite a bit but I'm much more comfortable now I'm on some medication. Sadly, the vets were unable to determine what the lump on my chest is and the only way to know more is by anaesthetising (are you impressed by my use of big words) me. The hoomans and the vet have agreed that at my tender age of nearly 84 doggy years that such a strategy could be too risky so the aim is to keep me happy, comfortable and content instead. Well, I'm being fed every day so I'm very happy, I have a choice of 6 beds to lie on so I'm comfortable, and I have lots of treats so I'm more than content.
Unfortunately, Kylie Hound has been in the wars too and will be going back to the vets for the second time in 10 days tomorrow as she's bleeding from her nails again. It's not been a great month :-(
Anyway, to cheer me up, the female servant did this lovely drawing of me. Hope you like it, I certainly do! :-)
Until next time, enjoy your week and don't get too blown about in those gales!
Ben (Lucy & Kylie) xx
Hello there! This is Kylie, Ben and Lucy with our latest blog- our first of 2018! We're sorry it's been so long since our last one but we've been extremely busy sleeping, snoozing, dosing off, eating treats and taste-testing the female servant's tuna cakes! All very time consuming and it hasn't left us much time to get on the old lap top to write our blog. We're sorry, we will try harder in future.... probably!
We had a lovely trip to Wales a few weeks ago (picture below) and we met lots of nice people as we were walking along the sea front. We also met a lovely greyhound who'd travelled all the way from Scotland... not by herself....she was with her humans, who presumably drove to Wales rather than walked. The comedian and actor Eddie Izzard was there too. He was supposed to be filming something along the sea front but sadly it got cancelled. The male servant did offer to fill in for him but the production crew couldn't be bothered to answer him let alone tell him to go away. Shame really, because the male servant did do some acting in a school play in the 1980's. The audience were that overcome they all rose to their feet as one....... to walk out.
Sadly, Benny hasn't been very well in recent weeks and was rushed to the vet yesterday :-(
He is nearly 84 in doggy years but it doesn't make it any less upsetting. He has to go back tomorrow for further tests and to have some blood samples taken. In the meantime, we've been enjoying some tuna cake, baked specially by the female servant, to help take our minds off tomorrow. We're a very close pack and we are all concerned for him so please think of him (and us) tomorrow as all good thoughts are welcome.
Yum.... lovely tuna cake........

We are occasionally lively greyhounds who live with two human servants. Sadly our house- mate Ben crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 23/09/18, just a few hours after writing his final blog. We miss him so much but we know he's running free and no longer in pain.
